The Teacher Teaches

Apostle Jerome Lee Myree • Spiritual Maturity
Did you ever have a "favorite" teacher when you were in school. One who just went the extra mile to make sure you "got it"? Or one who just kept encouraging you and would get down on the floor with your to show you, to be an example, or just really inspired you? Well, Jesus is that kind of teacher. He taught and still teaches by example through the written Word. Keep reading and see how a good teacher teaches!
2 Timothy 3:17-17 (The Message Bible)  "But don't let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers-why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother's milk! There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another-showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us."

Good teachers involve themselves in their students' learning experience and process.  He doesn't just impart head knowledge to them, he enters the different dimensions of learning with them.  When they cross over into other dimensions of experience, whether spiritual or natural, he crosses too, as a teacher, mentor, example and leader.

All of God's Word is good for our training.  Jesus taught by parables as well as by example.  He was not only a teacher to His disciples (students), He was their mentor and example as well.

Luke 8:22, "One day Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's cross to the other side of the lake." So they got into a boat and started out."
Mark 4:35, "As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's cross to the other side of the lake."

Jesus said to His students, "Let Us" cross over to the other side of the lake.  He didn't say cross over to the north, south, east or west side.  He said the other side.  the question is where is the other side?  The other side is where His manifested presence would be, the supernatural dimensions of signs, wonders and the miraculous.  The disciples were already in His manifested presence but, even in His manifested presence, they lacked confidence being only students of learning.  But the teacher was with them.

For their instruction and learning, they first had to get started and launch out.  Jesus was teaching them the power of instruction from the Teacher - the Word, faith, living and exercising dominion over the earth and the physical elements - winds and waters.  Physical storms, storms of life and things that seemed to be threatening.  Good teachers develop good lesson plans and tests which we all have to take and should pass.

Though His presence was on the boat through the bad storm, He was asleep.  Though God always has a watchful eye on His children, they become afraid of drowning if the boat goes down or capsizes.

Mark 4:35 (The Message Bible), "Late that day he said to them, "Let's go across to the other side." They took him in the boat as he was. Other boats came along. A huge storm came up. Waves poured into the boat, threatening to sink it. And Jesus was in the stern, head on a pillow, sleeping! They roused him, saying, "Teacher, is it nothing to you that we're going down?"

They awoke Jesus and they really didn't have to.  He asked them, "where is your faith?"  Mark 4:39-40 (NLT) "When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Silence! Be still!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he asked them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"  They could have rebuked the storm by releasing the Word of Faith but they did not do so, Jesus taught them how to do it.  He simply commanded in His dominion (and His Father's) peace, be still, and the winds and waves were calmed.  The storm stopped!  In Mark 4:41 (NLT), "The disciples were absolutely terrified. "Who is this man?" they asked each other. "Even the wind and waves obey him!"

Exactly who are you in Christ Jesus?  What have we been given in Him and what can we do through Him?  The works that He did, He said we shall do even greater works if we believe.  A good teacher gives the instruction by being an example and by teaching by example then activating the students to do the same things.  Everything in the Kingdom of God is realized and works by the Word of Faith which works by love.

God's Kingdom is a Faith Kingdom and He has given to every believer the measure of faith.  He's looking for your faith.  Will He find it?  Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.  Faith without action is dead, inactive, inoperable, and no good.  And this God kind of faith must work by Love.    Galatians 5:6 (NLT)  "For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love."  (KJV) "For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love."  If you are not walking in love towards your brothers and sisters in Christ, your faith will not work!  Take a lesson from The Teacher!
